Wheatie Nine

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Wheatie, affectionately known as “Wheaton,” on Friday, July 31, at the age of 12.

Wheatie may have been the old man of the house, but he never acted like one. He was feisty, fearless, and never hesitated to remind everyone who was in charge. Whether he was playfully swatting at our Great Dane, Mocha, or keeping our other cats, Loki and Frosty, in line, Wheatie made sure his authority was known. Even as he got older, he could still rip and tear around the house with young Frosty, proving he still had plenty of kitten left in him.

Behind his tough exterior was a loving soul. One of his favorite places in the world was curled up beside his cat mom, Cordelia, sharing quiet naps and warm cuddles. He even enjoyed car rides, content to sit and gaze out the window as the world passed by.

Wheatie never lost his love for snacks or a good meal. Even during his final hours, food still brought him comfort, a fitting reminder of one of his favorite things in life.

Our home feels quieter now, and there is an empty place that can never truly be filled. Wheatie leaves behind countless memories, laughter, and paw prints forever etched on our hearts.

We find comfort in imagining him crossing the Rainbow Bridge, where he has been reunited with his sister, Zelda. We hope they are together once again, chasing, playing, and resting in the sunshine.

Thank you, Wheatie, for 12 unforgettable years of love, laughter, sass, and companionship. You ruled our home with confidence, loved us in your own special way, and gave us memories we will cherish forever.

Run free, sweet Wheaton. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never be forgotten.
