Sadie “Sadie Jean” Stephens, 11, journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge on September 18, 2024 with her favorite plushy and moms by her side.
Sadie was a shelter mutt and was adopted from the Marshall County Animal Shelter in 2013. Sadie lived her best life daily, and had so many funny quirks that her moms will miss. She could curl up absolutely anywhere for a nap, but she favored a good couch nap, especially outside on nice evenings. Sadie had the kindest and gentlest nature, but was mischievous at heart, and required a close eye around cat food and was the reason the family had a locked trashcan lid.
Sadie loved car rides, chicken minis and pup cups. She was excited to hop in the car for an adventure every chance she had. She had an extra love for sticking her head out of the sunroof and enjoyed the wind blowing past her ears. She loved going with her brother and sister for ice cream. One thing Sadie loved the most was her role as a Therapy Dog with WVU Medicine. She pranced into the hospital each time she visited, excited to see all of her friends and offer up snuggles. She also caught on that this was an excellent time for an extra pup cup and snacks.
Sadie leaves behind a canine brother and sister, Hooch and River. She also leaves behind her feline partner in crime, Momma Cat, and their plans to take over the world.
Her moms will miss her lounging on the couch and watching football, her happy tippy taps when she was excited for an adventure, and the laughs she gave them with her funny personality and world class side eye.
Her moms would like to thank Dr. Holt and The Next Ridge for the kind and compassionate care he provided in her last moments. The gift of a peaceful passing is precious, and Sadie’s family can’t thank him enough. Thank you to Almost Heaven Pet Cremation for cremation services and allowing Sadie to return home. She was a special part of the family and will be missed immensely.
